More detailed info will be given. Please contact me if interested.
How does one become a SG?

I was wondering, as a female who actually tends to get along with nothing but other females....(for the most part indeed) if I have a shot at becoming a Suicide Girl. I LOVE them and what they stand for. And would love to be a part of it! I have no current portfolio, or resume. What is your advice? Its much appreciated, thank you.

Aberrant behavior-auditions saturday the 19th 2263 mission (between 18th & 19th) 3:30-6:30 (Also looking for crew)

'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery (that features nudity/partial nudity)you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work. Best place to e-mail:
theperiodmovie@yahoo.com

Here is the plot:
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. Who are in a very self destructive relationship, there perfect for each-other except they literally kill each-other by being together. A lot of psycho-sexual/self mutilation-masochism in this one.There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis.

Keep in mind the budget of this movie will probably stay around 25-35, 000 dollars (already secured), so just warning I can't pay the highest rates

Thanks-
Jason

Here is the original posting:

I have a new movie called "Aberrant Behavior" auditioning Sat. 1/19 3:30-6:3- at the Dark Room SF 2263 Mission off of 19th and Mission@ 3:30 - 6:30. (My first movie "the period" came out through Sub Rosa Cinema can be seen/bought at Netflix www.myspace.com/theperiodmovie as well as various other outlets)
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin.
Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice.He falls in love with Aiko.

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered.
She falls in love with Victor.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

I need before I even start:
Prostethetics/Makeup- There are many parts of my movie that need gore, ghoulish makeup or creating body casts for dreamlike effect (like a scene where they fall onto the ground and break like porcelain blood-paint spraying out of them creating a heart) but most importantly I need someone who can help make someone look anorexic, eye sockets reccessed , hips sticking out, ribs sticking out, shoulder blades, etc. I can't start without this because it's one of the main characters.

Boom-I have someone lined up for operating boom/mixing sound, but I'm not sure he'll always be available. I need someone who has at least some experience in this to help. I have equipment but having (better?) equipment would be great.

Props- It would be great to have someone who can assist in creating edible (or non toxic) chemicals, substances, materials for the main characters to ingest. It would also free me up to think about other things.

Lighting/ Art Department/ Set Design/Decoration/Locations- I need someone who can do a lot without a lot who can work with unusual materials. Who isn't too expensive or I won't be able to afford you. Also may be able to transform other locations into desired location.Things needed for instance underground bomb shelter turned into run down sorta apartment. Abandoned buildings. Offices. Fashion Show. A sewer, where the characters live in and eat off of trash.

Original posting:

Set Decorators/Builders:
Though the majority of the movie will be in real locations. There will be a few sets built, and sets that will be decorated to fit the movie. I am looking for people who have experience building sets (theater experience would be great) on a low budget. Resourcefullness in materials is needed (Meaning you can do a lot with not a lot). Building flats, painting, decorating.

Prosthetics/ Make-Up: Though this is not a gore horror movie. There is quite a few instances of gore. People who have experience in mold making, prostethics, sculpture. etc. would be very helpfull. Also people good at making people looking sickly or malnourished through make-up needed. In addition Emma May, the severe anorexic will need added pieces to protrude her brows and jaw, her ribs, collar bones, hip bones, etc to make herself appear much thinner. Actually a lot of make up needs from simple to complex through out the movie.

Vfx-Compositors- Though this will not be a special effects epic, there will be things needed. Good flashy two animations/composting for some of the fake commercials/promos. Possible fire and underwater animation. Some manipulation of the video -color fluctuations, shrinking an enlarging, simple morph effects, color globules to represent visual aberrations in the characters eye-sight. Some 3-D needed especailly those who are good working with modeling human figures. But mostly more simple 2-D basic 3-D stuff. I may do this myself, but send me a link to your work, and I might hire you for the movie.

Props: I will be doing much of this myself, but may need help in re-creating chemicals, materials, such as drano, soap, dirt, carpet, many other instances through-out the script, to create realistic looking edible (or at least non toxic ) substitutes for the substances they swallow.

Mechanical/Puppetry- Not needed for a lot of the movie. But there is a few scenes with Emma Mays giant snake like tape worm that slithers around. Also a scene where skull bowls start vomiting (have to read script to explain) Could do myself, just seeing if anyone else might be interested.

Lighting Designer: Though I will likely take over this role myself, and a lot of the footage will be shoot in the streets style. There will be a few locations that will be staying in for a long while in the script, and would like good, stylized lighting for maximum creepy effectiveness.

Costume: I already have a few people on board for this, but as this movie ends in a big Valentines Day Fashion Show. I am looking for people who could be commisioned for clothing for that event (and other sequences in the movie as well). Also, previously made pieces could work.

Underwater Camera- Anyone who would like to rent me an underwater camera, or who has experience filming underwater, this is needed for a few sequences.

Boom Mic/ Sound Mixer- I already have someone onboard for this, but never hurts to have a second position, or a backup

Pyro/ Fire Safety/Explosion - This really isn't needed for a lot of the movie. But there is one scenes where a whole room catches on fire (with possible stuntman that catches on fire, I made do this in special effects). There is another scenes where a home-made bomb blows a crack into a wall and makes it crumble. I want these scenes to come off effective and safe.

Security- Not throughout the whole movie, but there will be scenes where I will be filming in potentially dangerous locations, and a climax that will need crowd control

Legal/ Locations- I will probably do this myself, but if anyone has experience in finding or knowing of great locations, or securing permits for locations. I might be interested in working with you.

Production Assistants/Co-Ordinaters (I am sure you know what this means)

Music- I have most of the music worked out. But a band fell out that I really felt I needed for some sequences. If your music is post -rocky, slow core or has that aphex twin meets godspeed you black emperor I may be interested. The kind of bands I'm looking for: Mew, Godspeed you black emperor, Explosions in the sky, Spiritualized, 65 days of static, Sigur Ros. Also in some music Portis-Heady could work.

Thanks
-Jason

CASTING: 1970's style Euro-Sleaze MOVIE

Hey-- I am a writer/director with verifiable IMDB credits (Malcolm McDowell & Faye Dunaway are in the last movie I wrote that was produced).

We're shooting a nunsploitation flick in a mansion (circa 1860) with a nefarious past in San Jose, Ca in July. It's low-budget but this is a PAYING GIG.

It would be cool if you have a passing knowledge of the work of director Jess Franco - but that's not really a requirement. If you're interested, please send me a message & I'll pass on the cast breakdowns to see if you're right for something.

AND- if you look like my ghost queen, the late, great SOLEDAD MIRANDA (that's her in the pic') and you speak English, I'll probably cast you.

This is going to be a really fun, extremely twisted picture...

Thanks,
Brian

Blood Vessel - Rue Morgue crewing up

The Blood Vessel - Rue Morgue is crewing up for our fundraisers and for Burning Man. We need lovelies for Camp Manager, LNT Mgr, press liaisons, bar tending, Blood Vessel Hotties, Pal Bearers and more.

For those unaware of the Blood Vessel - Rue Morgue, its an art project involving the Blood Vessel art car with the goal of taking hand made art coffins to Burning Man's Temple burn. People make origami cranes at the Rue Morgue camp. The cranes have the well wishes of the departed to be taken inside the coffins to be burned.

We celebrate the death as well as the life and help people release the pain they have inside. Our 25 foot coffin trailer towed by the hearse "Clarice" carries the party fun part of what we do, dance our asses off!

Please visit our tribe, join, come be part of art project with a purpose.

FYI, the Suicide Girls will be doing a burlesque show on New Year's Eve at Miss Kitty's Parlour in Los Angeles. According to Missy, Reagan, Nixon, Chloe and Reno will be there to help ring in the New Year in style.

http://www.misskittysparlour.com

While I'll be off at the Cirk O Six gig Samo posted, and then at Space Island for an after-party/dawn celebration, I do have to say that Miss Kitty's is one of the best mainstream clubs out there. And of course if you're still looking for more insanity once they boot you out of Miss Kitty's at closing time on Saturday night, come on down to Space Island... ;-)

(At least in video form. Especially now that Steve Jobs and Ipod have gotten ahold of them. That's right, in addition to appearing in their own recurring video specials on American pay television, Ipod owners now have access to the infamous Suicide Girls at suicidegirls.com/ipod/)

Is suicide girls bleeding to death?

PIN-UP OR SHUT UP
Is SuicideGirls bleeding to death?

By José Ralat Maldonado

The difference between naked shots and porn is spreading your legs,” Molly Crabapple tells me. We’re sitting in Clem’s, a Williamsburg honky-tonk, along with two Press editors and a friend of Molly’s who’s a former freak-show girl. “Molls and newsmen—very noir,” Molly says, and takes a sip of her ice water.

Molly is 22 and striking, olive-skinned with an aquiline nose and breasts with the curve and heft that everyone wants either to have or to hold. She’s articulate and educated, if a bit too knowing. She’s there to talk with me about SuicideGirls.com, the softcore sex site that’s gone mainstream by purporting to offer naked young alt-girls in a female-friendly online community.

Until recently Molly was a Suicide Girl, having posed nude for the site twice, once alone and once in tandem with another girl. She was paid the usual rate of $300 for each shoot and didn’t spread her legs on either occasion. She’s well-spoken, but her complaint is much the same as those of most every other girl I’ve spoken with: “SuicideGirls is the Wal-Mart of alt-porn.” She’s said the same at her page on the site, but you won’t find the comment there; it’s been purged, along with just about every other critical comment any Suicide Girl has made has made about SuicideGirls.

The bloom, it seems, is off the rose.

SuicideGirls’ carefully cultivated claim of being female-run has been attacked as a marketing ploy, and one of its male owners attacked as a woman-hater. About 30 of the site’s best-known and most-popular models have left or been booted from the site in the last month, and their online journals purged. The idea that the site was as much about the girls’ minds as about their bodies—always transparently false, but for some reason accepted at face value by the girls, by a press all too eager to promote purportedly female-empowering porn and by a large female viewership willing to play along—has been exposed as a fraud.

Those women who have moved on to other sites have been threatened with lawsuits (as have sites running their photos) that appear to claim that for the generally $300 a shoot they were paid that all images of them—not just those taken for SG—are property of the site forever and throughout the universe.

Those former SGs that have nonetheless continued to publicly attack the site say they have been threatened with spurious but costly and time-consuming lawsuits, and with having the pictures they took for the site sold to hardcore sex sites.

The new, enlightened sex is looking awfully similar to the old exploitative porn, which is a shame, but no surprise.

In the 2004 SuicideGirls coffee-table book, a collection of sexy photos and sample profiles, Missy Suicide claims to have created Suicide Girls in 2001. She wanted, she says, to take pictures of her pierced and tattooed friends, women who supposedly challenged the normative idea of beauty. This despite being pale, thin, white, altered and modified in the least imaginative possible ways and generally given over to the sort of vague nostalgia for pin-up photography and glamour-as-such that so many disaffected young women feel.

"I decided I would create a website for the images, and give each of the girls I photographed a space to write, rant, scream, explain, whatever," she wrote. "I would give them a voice on the Web site, and let them create the site with me, set the tone and share their unique attitudes with the world."

The innermost thoughts and taut bodies of naked hipstresses, steeped in the rhetoric of womanly self-empowerment and in the service of the DIY ethos—the perfect marketing plan.

The real beauty of it was that it worked two ways. The audience was made to feel that far from mere gapers after smut, they were participants in the democratization of sex. The models were made to feel that they were taking control of their sexuality, posing nude without compromising their integrity or fattening the bankroll of a leering, amoral pornographer.

When SuicideGirls.com went live in 2001, about 35 girls took their clothes off for a supposedly woman-owned venture in hot naked hipsterism and online diary-keeping. The site was immediately acclaimed by the stodgy press, garnering praise from the Times of London, Spin, Rolling Stone and—yes—New York Press under previous editors. MTV tellingly and inanely claimed that "SG isn't just a lifestyle brand—it's a lifestyle." (Which is, I suppose, the difference between porn and naked shots.) These days, there are almost 800 Suicide Girls, and thousands of subscribers generating about a million hits on an average day. SG has proven so lucrative that the company, now called SG Services, Inc., has expanded into clothes, underwear, tchotchkes, a burlesque tour (and a predictably banal DVD of the tour), a coffee-table book and a radio show.

"I was really attracted to the idea of a site created and run by women," says Jennifer "Sicily" Caravella, until her recent departure one of the most popular Suicide Girls. "What really lured me in and made me want to stay was that the community really added a light-hearted dimension (very different from most porn sites) where I could screw off on the boards with my juvenile humor and make friends. I got really into the journals and ended up meeting a lot of people."

This mythology of sexy, pierced women creating a frolicksome community was what drove the site's popularity. As it turns out, though, neither Missy Suicide nor any other woman is the force behind the nudity. That would be one Sean Suhl, one of the four owners of SuicideGirls, and the one the departing girls all say is the power behind the throne, while Missy is mostly merely the public face. Sean's possessed with a unique attitude of his own.

Whores, sluts and junkies are some of the names Caravella says Suhl has used to empower his models when not allegedly declaiming that "You guys are a bunch of vapid idiots," "An ass-sex video wouldn't have paid you as much," or "Why don't you just shut the fuck up, lady. No one asked you!"

Perhaps unsurprisingly, such antics have led to the loss of various exotically named models. "Doesn't anyone wonder why nearly all the models who are leaving the site have had personal/direct contact with Sean? Nearly every girl who has left knows Sean. This is not just chance," says Caravella.

Sicily, Shera, Stormy, Voltaire, Apnea, and, er, Katie, all prominently featured on the Web site, the book and/or the 2004 burlesque tour, are all popular—and all gone.

The Suicide Girl brand was built largely on the images these girls provided—and it was the loss of these models that has brought the company's seedy business practices front and center.

"The ones who left were the icons of Suicide Girls. That subscribers care that these girls left is proof that they regard the girls as humans, not meat puppets," said a former model who spoke on condition of anonymity. "And these new 18-year-olds are not top tier—the whole point is making sure that now there is no top tier, that the site is less about the personalities of strong, charismatic women who can hurt SG by leaving and is more about interchangeable tits."

A skeptic might point out that regardless of the marketing gimmick, SuicideGirls was never about anything else. As a thought experiment, imagine two alternative sites, one without blogs, and one without naked pictures. Which one would rake in the $9 per month subscription fees? Put your money on the one with the meat puppets.

The point is made best on the SuicideGirls DVD, a documentary on the group's 2004 burlesque tour that intercuts a bit of self-empowerment rhetoric with plenty of bumping and grinding. It's a moderately upscale Girls Gone Wild, with the coercive images of men pressuring drunken girls to take off their tops replaced with ridiculous shots of the girls coming together, giggling and hugging after their stripper routines.

"Sean basically told me to 'fuck off' when I requested that we sign contracts ensuring his word on the royalties," says Caravella. "Sean promised all the girls a 5-cent royalty on the DVD after a 200 grand re-coup. He later took back his word with one of the girls because she couldn't do the next tour (though she had done a TON of free promotion for SG). Another girl was told there was no re-coup. Another girl was told one thing from Missy and another from Sean. His whole deal was to use this 5-cent re-coup promise to justify having the DVD girls do free-promotional stuff. He said that it was in our best interest to promote the DVD because it would pay off for us in the future. Hence, the feeling of exploitation. Sean is full of big promises and little follow-through."

The departure of a few (or even several dozen) models from the site amid claims of ill treatment, broken promises, shady money dealings and the rest is interesting but unsurprising. It's the sex industry, after all.

What makes the whole saga truly bizarre is the treatment excommunicated Suicide Girls have received. "Every SG member and model who has attempted to question or speak about this has been archived or zotted off the site," continues Caravella.

The girls also say they have been hounded elsewhere on the Web. "I have had two LiveJournal accounts deleted, two MySpace blogs erased," Caravella tells me. "I have been banned from commenting and posting in all groups and forums on MySpace. I had my last journal deleted off of SuicideGirls. Why all of this effort to shut me up?"

Kelly "Shera" Kleinert, another popular former Suicide Girl, also had her MySpace account deleted last month. "When they deleted me, every comment, every message was deleted."

According to both women, Suhl is an acquaintance of Tom Anderson, the founder of MySpace.

"I am sure that Sean was having a bad day and read one of my posts and called Tom," says Kleinert. "That is the only thing I can think of." Anderson declined to respond to numerous requests for comment.

Suhl denies having censored anyone. "Our newswire publishes stories I disagree with each day." He doesn't offer an alternate explanation, though, to accompany his denial.

In an email, nominal founder Missy Suicide countered that all girls have left voluntarily or because their membership ended. She later changed stories and told me that "Models receive a membership while they are active on the site." Finally, she decided on a third explanation: "Because these women are no longer contributing members or [do not] represent the community we decided to remove their journals from the site. While we value their past contributions to the community, we are saddened by their recent accusations that we feel are unfounded."

Their pictures, though, remain up. Only the words have been removed.

The complaint at the center of the breakdown happened in spring of 2004, during preparations for the burlesque tour. Five girls were staying at Suhl's apartment, which doubled until recently as SG headquarters, at his request. The accommodations were not all he claimed they would be.

"When I arrived at Sean's," one model wrote in an email, "I was introduced to the dingy, bug-infested, stained walls and carpet, horribly cold and depressing 'basement'. Yes, it was finished and meant to be an apartment...a very, very awful and dreary apartment. The toilet was broken. [One girl] spent most of her time with us in the basement…. You couldn't find her with us, the next best place to look was in the upstairs guest bedroom closet. Yes CLOSET. It's the only place she felt safe enough to talk on the phone or most likely cry.... She wasn't the only girl crying either."

Suhl denies this, going so far as to provide the street address of the former SG HQ and invite me to tour and photograph the basement apartment.

"It was the 1,800 sq ft bottom floor apartment (with its own 2,000 sq ft private sun deck, four private entrances to the street, wall of sliding glass doors, kitchen, bathroom, view of downtown LA and a rose garden of a multimillion-dollar house in Los Feliz)," he told me in an email. "Yes I often locked the door to the second floor apartment (where I lived with my girlfriend)."

"Sean yelled at me every day of the tour and pre-tour," says Kleinert. "He called me a slut, stupid, replaceable and talentless."

"I left SG because I think it is one big lie. I quit SG because I loathe Sean and everything he stands for. I quit SG because we were not aware when we signed certain contracts that the DVD was going to be available at such places as Best Buy, fye, Tower and Virgin, and that Showtime was airing it twice a week every week for two years," she went on. "He made it sound like there would be limited distribution so we agreed to a ridiculously low amount of payment [of] $1,000."

One model who left the site of her own volition to pursue a career as a writer told me that "Sean always seemed to have short man's complex. Like one of those geeks in high school who suddenly gets pussy and he's not overjoyed—he's thinking, 'I'm going to get back at them now.'"

It's hard to take seriously girls who took off their clothes for money, and were then shocked—shocked!—that the man giving them money to get naked didn't respect them. And it says nothing good that SuicideGirls has gotten nothing but glowing press up until now, as though the presence of a few blog entries and answers to cutesy, Nerve-style questionnaires (body mods, favorite bands, I lost my virginity…) meant that the tit-staring and related cock- and clit-stroking were somehow liberating, feminist, punk rock and so on.

That the whole thing did get good press, though, despite being an obvious and blatant sexual Potemkin village, says a lot about the natural and proper desire of porn consumers to see healthy, normal people having fun fucking one another, or at least getting naked, which is a good first step. Happily, several sites offer up what SuicideGirls purports to, without invoking a lifestyle or involving the consumer's cash in the sort of scumfuckery of which Suhl has been accused.

One site several of the SuicideGirls have migrated to is GodsGirls.com, which is showcasing the same sort of "punk" naked women. The difference is that the new competitor has no pretensions of forging a community, woman-friendly or otherwise. It's a certain sort of hot girl, shown naked and fuckable, if not in fact fucking. If this is your sort of thing you should also check out BurningAngel.com, a woman-owned site that offers up the softcore tease but also shows some of the freer-spirited girls doing what everyone wants to see them doing, which is in its own way liberating—certainly more so than SuicideGirls' rather prudish half-assery.

I asked Missy to put me in touch with other Suicide Girls, who'd presumably still be loyal to her and the site. She refused.

[On Tuesday, just as New York Press was going to print, she and her lawyer contacted editor Harry Siegel and, after asking to read the story before it ran, offered to put either of us in touch with some happier Suicide Girls than those with whom I'd spoken.]

Missy, after all, is the woman who claimed in the introduction to SuicideGirls' coffee table book of nudie pix that her dream was to capture the beauty of "the post-punk girls who haunted Pioneer Square, Ice Cube on their iPods, decked out in Minor Threat hoodies and miniskirts with a skateboard in one hand, a cup of coffee in the other and a backpack full of Kerouac and Hemmingway slung over one absent-mindedly exposed shoulder."

Or at least it's her name signed to the marketing director–style rigamarole.

It's a lifestyle, indeed

While flipping through the tribe's posted photos, I was shocked to not see these particular suicide girls represented! This oversight, I decided, must be resolved immediately. While the images really need no embellishment, Sophie's "I fuck to come" tattoo is reason alone to join suicidegirls.com. The photographs of London are breathtakingly brilliant.

Bottom line and all kidding aside: these needed to be posted. I am glad I did it! Now I can rest.

7/23 LA: Space Island - Phoenix Returns

This is an SGLA "open event" - in order to join the LA regional group, you need to come to an event and meet other members. It's not snobbery so much as protectiveness. There have been problems with creepy people in the past, so as a result there's a screening process to join the group.

The event below will have a few different SG members, myself included, on hand. If you're interested and you're able to come to this, please do and please flag me down to say hello. Space Island is both the name of my camp at Burning Man, as well as one of the premier underground music venues in southern California.

Yeah yeah yeah, birds of paradise, reborn and whatnot. Now imagine it's Space Island (which I think many of you know) working with the concept. More spacey. More arty. More sexy. And plenty of fire.

We've got a brand new ship to build (check out the 2005 Space Wench, coming this August to a playa near you), as well as pay for. So in typical Space Island fashion, we're staging an event to help offset the costs.

We'll start things off with live jazz and an art show featuring the workd of Darrah Danielle and Hans Haveron at 9PM. Enter to win original art from Darrah.

We'll also have aerial and fire performances, Spoken word by Middle Poet and more.

Outdoors, we'll also be featuring Patricio (LABA), Dandelion (Manifest Station), Pod (LABA), Lady Jay (United Divas), Ian, and Asthmyth (B-Smarter & Eye Awaken as B-Awaken). Indoors, catch David Starfire, Oscure (LABA), Michele Bass (LABA), RD, and Treavor Wyse (Green Sector).

Every aspect of this lineup is simply amazing. Please come out and show your support.

$20 ($15 in red or fire attire)

Space Island

report on Devil's Point Saturdays...

WOW! I didn't stay too long (I think my eyes would've started bleeding from the cumulative beauty), but was there enough to be absolutely blown away by Nixon, Stormy and Ultra. I worked in a strip club for two years (from '98-'00), and I haven't seen dancing like this since that time. And yes, I've been to several clubs since moving to Portland... Apparently Nixon was visiting from SF so I don't know if she'll be there next week, but my CTHULHU she can move!!! I had the chance to meet Stormy, and this girl is amazingly sweet. She's been a favorite since I joined the site, and it was really cool to finally meet her in person. Ultra is sexy beyond words...

As mentioned, I've worked around exotic dancers for some time (something like 130 girls, give or take dozen), and these three took it to a whole new level. If you're in Portland, or within 300 miles and don't mind a very-well-worth-the-effort drive(!), come see these beautiful women on Saturday night at Devil's Point. DP is in SE Portland, on Foster and 59th (I think). Give them LOTS of money; don't just tip $1 bills. They deserve tens and twenties, and you'll enjoy the experience much more... :P As with most clubs, they're not hourly or anything, they only get tips. So, make it worth their while and give them your money. It'll ensure that they continue working there (why should they if they don't make money?), and you'll probably get a chance to meet some fascinating women in person. I have a thing for highly-confident and sexy tattooed 'n' pierced women, and I think I've found my new regular Saturday night club. GIVE THEM LOTS OF MONEY!!! :)))

Hi :)

Do i have to be a SG to be a part of the tribe? I've alwys loved SG's and love women that are piereced and tattooed and aren't afraid to go out of the norm of what 'beautiful' is and eventually would like to join SG's myself. Not sure if i'm really a right candidate though. I just had a look at all the pics and you are all so gorgeous. Not a barbie in site ... wicked ;)

sad news... Portland SG Ondine...

A new friend mentioned that an acquaintance of hers was "found deceased" a few days ago (6/1), and I happened to see her name on the SG site. I don't know Ondine, but by pure chance found out that she was a Suicide Girl. I'm new to both the SG and Tribe communities, and figured I should at least bring this to the tribe's attention. Still kinda raw from a recent (and unexpected) family loss myself, so this news is pretty grating. There have been quite a few people posting their sympathy and condolences to her friends and family on the SG site, so if you know her, it might be nice to add your comments. It's good to see that there's a supportive group here for the girls... Best wishes to all!

It's wonderful to see such classy and unique (and UNBELIEVABLY hot!) women identify as SGs; wondering if there are any local hangouts some frequent more than others? Mmmm... to happen across Echo in person... I can dream, can't I? :PPP

I'm surfing tribe, and find the SG group. I figure hey, I'll join and see who from the site is on tribe.net. Bam - a couple hundred names I don't recognize. Granted, it's a combination of my not knowing everyone's real name, and my not having the best memory in the world. So who the fuck is everyone?

SG name = tribe name

Actors Needed

THE SCARY PROJECT

I will be shooting a small, quick feature in June or July and am looking for actors. There will be some pay. Union or Non-Union is fine. Here's the deal:-

The entire film will be shot in one weekend. Not sure of the exact date yet. Although this may seem a little nutty, there will be no firm script, just an outline, so obviously improv skills are a must.

The film's plot slightly involves a reality TV show and to be considered for a role, I would like you to send in a 2-3 min audition tape. Just you and a camera. Please get good audio as, if you are picked for this crazy adventure, your audition tape may be used in the film, but VHS will do. Think "Fear Factor" and get creative. No holds barred. Bribe me. Tease me. Impress me. Make me laugh.

I have a lot of experience doing low budget, fast productions.
More about me and "The Scary Project" can be found at
www.paynie.com

Please send tapes to:-
Jaywalking Productions
1617 East 7th Street. Unit 7
Los Angeles
CA 90021

Anyone just sending in a headshot or reel will be ignored, sorry. I need to see if you can do a tape, not email or snailmail me a picture. I don't need links to websites either. JUST AUDITION TAPES. If you can't follow these directions, what good will you be on set?

No drop off's unless you have a large bottle of tequila and it's late. Tapes will not be returned or used unless you are cast. Good luck.

Yes, "The Scary Project" is just a working title

collecting the facts

I am trying to put together the facts for a couple of my co-models who have had too many people hyping SG to them saying it would increase traffic to our pre existing sites. From what I have heard and gotten off the other tribes etc not only is this not likley to happen but damn near impossible and of zero benifit to them. One has already submitted a set one has a photog trying to convince her to do so. Our hosting company has just revamped our contracts and were no longer under an exclusivity agremment only exclusve content so thats opened us all up to having additional sites... something very appealing to the three of us who are more the fetishy edgey types. So this seemed to be a good resource.So here are the questions. and whatI have heard can any of you confirm or deny because apperantly when Stella signed her release she did not catch on to this stuff.
I have heard the following.
SG demandes exlusivity.. not justy of content.
SG takes all rights to your photos permenatly not just for contract duration.
SG pays a flat fee for sets not a percentage.. if so whats the flat fee?
you may not cross lnk your sites even if contents are exclusive.

any thing else I need to know?

Both these girls I got onto the web and I swap sets with them regularly I really do not want to see them screwed.. ok well not by a company any way LOL. The new found freedom we all have is great but I am a protective mother hen and if theres no real benifit or worse off some potential harm in them submititng to SG I want to be able to pass on the facts.. PLUS since our cross over sets sell well they both are trying to talk me into leting them submit a set w/ me ... I do not give up my rights to my photos permenatly just my thing. Even my web hosting co has little info on SG since they were sold.
Input appreciated

I've seen some SG pics and they have ummm how should I say this...excited me...lol...but I haven't joined the site. Should I? I'm assuming you're all going to say yes? Are the rest of the pics as good as the samples? Thanks! :)

I just posted pictures from the Atlanta Suicide Girls group, SGATLien's, holiday party to my livejournal. It was a most badass time. Three of the local SGs were there...Llona, Marlowe, and Jem. Super cool ladies. Seriously, anyone who is in a big enough city to have an active local SG group really should check it out. Both the girls and the members here in ATL are great, so maybe the group in your town is cool too.

INSTANT GRATIFICATION

Saturday, February 19 2005 4:00pm - 10pm

The Red Loft
1617 East 7th St.Studio 7
Los Angeles, CA 90021

213.689.3110

http://www.instantgratification.org

1. Enter
2. Pose for picture
3. Picture goes on wall
4. Enjoy other pictures
5. Drink wine
6. Eat snacks
7. Listen to music

Photographs by Paynie will all be sold for $20
and may be used for anything. Pictures will
be printed 17x11 and will also be emailed if
requested. No obligation to buy at all.

This is a little experiment by me. I've worked
as a photographer for years. I love photographing
people. So my challenge to myself is can I shoot
a great portrait for an entire studio full of people?

There will be food and drinks availible and a dj or two
to provide a little aural stimulation. I will also be able
to shoot small groups of people as well. Need a new band shot?
Headshot? Nude for your boyfriend? Then come on down.
Music by Porter Tinsley, Jesse Wright and Neener Neener

http://www.paynie.com <~~~ Other portraits I've done.
http://homepage.mac.com/paynie/RedLoft1.html <~~~ The location.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any takers?
Hey, Flux. They booted me off SG. Not sure exactly why. But I just wanted to let you know that I dug all those philosophical discussions we had. And I hope you got the Devo cd.
Anyone in Portland going?
Better yet - anyone want to perform at the show?
I'm helping a friend organize the performers for the shows in San Francosco & Portland, and while San Francisco is full - Portland is seriously lacking! Come ON, Portland! After all the great things I hear about our neighbors to the north, I expected more - but hey, it's probably not your fault, maybe I just haven't been looking in the right places.
So, I try here.
For an idea of what we're looking for, Amanda said it really well here:
http://www.theshadowbox.net/ddbb/viewtopic.php?t=307
if you want an Idea of the Dresden Dolls - if you've only kind of heard amazin things about them and their shows, go here for a better idea of what you need to come see:
www.dresdendolls.com
So let's hear it, Portland! If anyone out there (or group of people) want to be a part of this, let me know what your ideas are! The more outrageios and unsettling the better. For example - at their last show here, I got a corset piercing in front of the stage. This time, we have, among many other amazing and beautiful freaks, a woman coming up from L.A. who eats light bulbs.
No, I haven't seen it yet. Looking forward to!
Okay, time's wasting. We have room for about 10 people. Please - I want Portland to be as amazing as San Francisco - it's a personal thing!
Get in touch with me if you would like to help out - and spread this around to anyone you think might be interested!
Last week's Virgo Sacrifice was a raging success - Roxy, Voltaire, Fractal, Pearl, Nonsense, RoxyMonoxcide, DaveUnderTheBed, Wad, Seether, Vikprez, Reprobate, EricAllen, Impboy, Fraggle, Zephyra, Bean, Shalome, Unraveled, and even MisterSatan (among a few others I may have forgotten) all made it out, there was plenty of great music, drinks, and dance.
A few people from tribe made it out to the Virgo Sacrifice last week as well and a good time was had by all. Pics of the Virgo Sacrifice can be found at http://www.blinkofaniproductions.com/91704RedLoft/index6.html
This weekend, some of the friends who helped put that together are having a party at their warehouse space downtown. It'll kick off at 10, and likely go until at least dawn - so even if you have to work, you can come by afterwards and things will still be going on. There will be some great DJ's, including Patricio, Oscure, Armando, and others. Cover is $10, and drinks are a reasonable $4 for Bacardi & Coke or Skyy & Red Bull etc., $1 for a bottle of water, and cheap beer (not sure how much that goes for).
FYI, if you're in LA on the 17th, I'm organizing a fairly sizable event. Check the events listings, a nice little birthday party of sorts to all the virgos out there (and all of us who aren't can just pretend). Aside from having some fantastic DJ's spinning, we'll have the lovely Voltaire and Roxy on hand with dance performances. Should be a bit of fun... ;-)
